Provides part numbers and dimensions for the driveshafts, coupling shafts, slip yokes, & u-joints used in the 1980 - 89 Ford trucks, including the Bullnose trucks as well as the E-Series vans, Aerostars, Rangers, Bronco II's.
- HOW TO LOCATE DRIVE LINE PART NUMBERS1. USE THE DRIVE LINE IDENTIFICATION CROSS REFERENCE GUIDE.
Refer to the Cross-Reference tab to convert from stamped number on the shaft to a service part number.
2. USE THE DRIVESHAFT APPLICATION CHART.
a. Refer to the Driveshaft Application Chart tab.
b. Universal joint and slip yoke/flange yoke codes & part numbers are shown on their respective tabs.
c. Manufacturer Codes used throughout the Chart are: D-Dana (Spicer) F-Ford
d. Basic part # 4602 is a shaft assembly used as a one piece driveshaft, and 4R602 is a two piece driveshaft or rear driveshaft and includes the shaft, universal joints and the slip yoke.
e. Basic part # 4A376 is a shaft assembly used as the front driveshaft and includes the shaft, universal joints and the slip yoke.
f. The Driveshaft “Types”, the "A” and “B" measurement designations, and typical drive line and universal joints are shown on the illustration below. - Look up your application in the Drive Shaft Application Chart Index, on Page 1, below. Note the page number shown for your application, and then scroll down to that page. There you will find the part number for the driveshaft(s) in your vehicle as well as the #'s for the yoke and u-joints.
If you are headed to a salvage to find the right driveshaft or yoke then you can search for that part number by going to the bottom of the frame in which the document resides (use the right-most slider bar) and clicking the Full Screen icon. That pops the document out into a new window on your browser and you can then hit Control & F at the same time to get the Find function. Paste the part number in the Find window and it'll show you all the other vehicles that use the same driveshaft or yoke. - You can find the slip yoke code for your application in the Application Chart. Then come here to find out the Ford part number of that slip yoke.
