Axle Ratios or Axle Codes
If you have the rear axle's code from the Certification Label on the driver's door jamb you can find the axle ratio, as well as the load rating, in the following tables. However, that's not really true for the front axle, as discussed below |
Front Axle Codes
While the parts catalog says "The third digit of the axle code identifies the ratio and/or capacity of the front axle", that is not true. As seen below, there are only 4 codes (2 - 5) and they do not define the axle ratio nor capacity. In fact, to find the front axle ratio you need the codes off the axle itself, as shown here:
