The following pages are to help you figure out how your 1980 - 86 Ford truck was meant to go together, and what fasteners were used to keep it together.

Ford used a variety of fasteners on these trucks, both metric and SAE. And many times in the parts catalog a cryptic number is given for the fasteners, like N623332-S2 or 55914-S36. But, there are a couple of things to note from the format that was used. First, the letter prefix ahead of the number is significant, and an "N" means it is a metric fastener. And numbers w/o the prefix are SAE fasteners.
Second, the suffix, meaning the "-SX" tells us what finish was used on the fastener. Ford's 2004 Standard and Utility Parts Catalog has a table showing what the finish suffix means, and I've included three versions of it below. First is a table I've created from the catalog:
