As described in this page, the electrical systems on these trucks left a lot to be desired. Given that, I'm upgrading the system on Dad's truck as follows:
- Alternator: A 3G alternator
- Battery: Not sure what battery will be installed, but the hold-down will be upgraded.
- Power Distribution: A later-model power distribution box will be installed.
- Gauges: The gauges will be powered by a solid state ICVR, a true volt meter installed, and the gauge needles will be painted to match the original color.
