Vacuum acronyms as used on the vacuum diagrams for the Bullnose trucks.
Vacuum was used on these trucks to do many things, including controlling the inlet air temp to the carburetor, advancing ignition timing for economy, controlling the EGR system, and powering the brake booster, cruise control, and HVAC doors to direct heated or cooled air. The trucks came with a sticker on the filler panel ahead of the radiator support that shows the routing of the vacuum lines as well as the various things the vacuum controlled and was controlled by. And, those stickers are specific to a small range of the trucks. For instance, the sample above is for a 1983 F150 with a 300 six and the non-High Altitude 49-State emissions package.
I'm attempting to collect pictures of these stickers for posterity, so have pages that follow for each of the engines. Perhaps I have a picture that matches yours, but if not I'd appreciated getting one so I can post it.

- A/CL DV: Air Cleaner Diverter Valve
- A/CL BI MET: Air Cleaner Bi-Metallic Valve
- A/CL CWM: Air Cleaner Cold Weather Modulator

- AIR: Ford calls this the Thermactor, short for Thermal Reactor. CA vehicles are installed with it as standard. Air Injection Reaction is what it stands for.
