STORY:
I purchased My 1981 Bronco in the fall of 1988, wanting a truck to go to work with in the winter, and wanted to go 4x4 trucking with my Family and friends .
Being a woman , and not knowing a lot about vehicle mechanics , with a 4x4 came with a lot of challenges if I was going to keep her . But I was willing to do what I could to help keep my "Toy" on the road .
I had so many great times traveling the back country with my husband and my two kids going thru a lot of back roads and seeing country I would never have seen without her. And have to admit , my husband was instrumental in keeping her on the road, since he did a lot of the work , but he also made me stand along side of him helping , saying the truck belonged to me so I had to help.
I never could have begun to foresee the cost of back roads truckin , but it was worth every penny, repairing broken struts , transmissions, cracked block, broken springs , brakes , bent steering rods, and everything else imaginable and of course trying to keep her rolling came at a cost of how bad she began to look, scratches and dents, of so many places she shouldn't have gone . But loved every minute of it .
In 2001 she began looking pretty rough, the time was right to try and fix some of the dents and rust that was coming thru ,I worked along side the body shop guys to repair some of the rust spots and learned a lot about "popping out dents " and then she was painted.
I used her again but she really started to show her age , rust in the floor boards and in the doors, back window wasn't working , all the things that happen to an old used vehicle . Over time she became a much bigger job looking after her , so in 2012 I parked her in our garage , thinking maybe I would fix it up again in the next year or so , until the spring of 2018 , 9 years later when my husband said " it's time , use it or loose it " he wanted the garage for other things .
So I took her out of the garage and noticed how many things had rusted and been broken over the years , and If I was going to keep her I needed to fix her up a little , so I went to work, spending hours and hours on the internet and phone calls researching parts and pieces all over the Canada and the US for parts and pieces .
The gas tank was leaking a little, bumpers needed to be changed , upholstery was rough , carpets were old and faded , and along the way I decided to try and transform her to new again . And give her life again ..
the seats were tattered and worn , so I ordered and found original fabric and had them recovered I ordered parts from as far away as Florida , Georgia , California , Oregon , back in Ontario , Alberta , and spoke to so many people along the way . Meeting some really interesting people along the way , who also loved "bull nose "vehicles .
So this year I did as much as I could and sent her to the body shop for paint and get the rest of the rust taken out . And here she is and really proud to say , I've just received collectors plates for her: My "Toy"
