tonneau cover
Ford offered a tonneau cover kit for the full-sized pickups and the part numbers were D1TZ 99501A42-A for black and D1TZ 99501A42-B for white. Yes, the tonneau covers for the 1971 through 79 trucks also fit the later trucks. But that's hard to figure out because by the final 1994 version of the 1980-89 Master Parts Catalog, the version that many of us have on CD, the part numbers had been removed from the catalog. However, I have a microfiche version of the 1982 MPC and sure enough the D1TZ information is in there, looking exactly like this from the 1973-79 catalog:
And for further proof, the illustration on the left below is from that final version of the MPC and still shows a tonneau for the F-Series trucks. They removed the part numbers from the catalog but not the illustration of the tonneau. In addition, the picture in the middle is from the 1981 Accessories catalog and shows that the tonneau was available then. But the picture on the right is from the 1986 Accessories catalog and says "Available in black and white for the Ranger only". So by then the tonneau for the full-sized trucks had been dropped, probably because it didn't sell well and they just discontinued it.
