- Story: This truck spent it’s whole life in Alabama, until we purchased it in January. It is remarkably original with NO rust holes in the bed or any other typical areas.
- The truck had been driven only intermittently for the last several years, but the engine was strong and transmission very tight. A highly optioned Highboy, it is the one of the last produced with a divorced transfer case and taller factory height; it was produced in Jan 1977 and production changed in the first part of that year.
- There were two key issues: a leaky carb and a fairly nasty exhaust manifold leak. A new exhaust manifold and carb, along with new shocks, fluid changes, plugs, some new hoses and belts has the truck running great now. When we bought the truck it was running no mufflers, and we had duals installed for a more reasonable tone. The pitted and rusty paint was dealt with, and a two tone “home spray” paint job has been done for now until it can make it to the paint shop.
- Plans are to respect the truck’s originality, retaining the factory steering assist, repairing the factory AC and returning it eventually to the original color. The truck originally had the large west coast mirrors which we sourced and reinstalled.
