Entrant #36: Jonathan's 1981 F150
Owner: Jonathan Donald
Location: Golden Valley, Arizona
Engine: 300 straight six, rebuilt
Driveline: Diesel ratio Borg Warner T19 four speed, Borg Warner 1345 transfer case, Ford 9” rear axle, Dana 44 TTB front 3.00 gears 235/85R16 tires.
Upgrades: converted from 2wd to 4x4, Saginaw steering pump, F450 hydroboost brake assist, front hitch, under hood tool box, locking hood release and glove box, intermittent wipers, ceiling shelf with later visors, Aeronose seat pan with captain chair seats and center console.
Story: I bought this truck from a good friend and co worker. He was shopping for a water tank on Craigslist and found one in the back of this truck. He struck a deal, and started to remove the tank when the seller told him no, stop... the truck comes with it! He used the whole truck while he repaired the engine in his 4x4, then sold it to me for a good price. He loved it but needed 4x4. Well, so did I. Since I had been truck shopping, I simultaneously found a deal on a non-running 4x4 donor. I then proceeded to find out why I should have waited and spent a bit more on a running 4x4, but that aside I have zero complaints about the results. This has been an excellent truck that continues to give dependable service daily.
