Entrant #16: Frank's 1981 F-150 Custom
Owned by: John "Frank" Wyatt
Location: Mc Kenzie, TN
Model: 1981 F150 Custom
Engine: 300 ci bone stock as made in 1981, emissions intact and functional minus the thermactor pump and cat
Driveline: BWT18 trans and 3.25:1 9" rear axle
Story: I've had this truck since 1990 when I purchased it for $400 dollars. It wasn't running but as the engine in my 1980 Custom was beyond being on it's last legs, I took a chance on it. I swapped the carburetor, master cylinder, brake booster, and rotors brakes and brake calipers and had a running and driving truck. It turned out the engine was in fantastic shape compared to what I had been driving. I have since then been taking care of things that had been neglected and keeping it maintained as well as possible. The only real modification I have done was to fabricate a radio bracket that would hold a AM/FM radio as well as a dash mounted CB radio. I recently removed the 8.5 inch wide aluminum wheels for a set of 7 inch wide argent factory wagon wheels. An upcoming upgrade will be the addition of intermittent wipers once I get the switch to go with the wiper governor I acquired during my latest salvage yard trip. And, the side view mirrors were replaced with a set of JR combination heads with gooseneck from Sureplus.com which combines a flat mirror with a convex mirror in one unit.
