Entrant #37: Jonathan's 1995 F Superduty
Owner: Jonathan Donald
Location: Golden Valley, AZ
Model: 1995 F Superduty (F450) 137” wheelbase Cab and Chassis incomplete vehicle 15,000 lb. GVWR.
Engine: originally a 460 EFI, Cummins swapped (engine sold) soon to have a late 6.9L IDI diesel and ATS turbo kit.
Driveline: originally E4OD, converted to three pedals for the Cummins (Getrag 360 five speed) soon to have a 4x4 ZF5 backed with a Doug Nash DNE2 under-overdrive. Dana 80 axle with 4.63 axle gears.
Story: purchased specifically for hauling water, and for building materials as I aspire to build a house on our property. GVWR is equivalent to older (pre 1980) F600’s but it will share many parts with my 1986 crew cab IDI and (hopefully) it will not be as bad of a money pit as the medium duty trucks can be... I know, it looks like I didn’t learn my lesson about combining two trucks to make one good one (read my 1981 F150 build) but the Bricknose and Aeronose F Superduty (F450’s) are not that easy to come by, and are especially uncommon in the short wheelbase form and with taller axle gears. Hopefully the effort will be worth it.
